Every year, when the berries ripen in June, we hold our annual Strawberry Festival. It is named for the strawberry shortcake we sell during the festival, made from strawberries grown and harvested in Monkton, but most know it as our annual used book sale. (Please note- the date of the Strawberry Festival will be one week earlier this year to accommodate for the strawberries ripening earlier.)
For the entire month of June, our library accepts donations of used books. These books are then organized by library volunteers and trustees for the sale. All proceeds from this festival go directly to the library.
When do you start accepting donations?
We accept donations starting June 1st through the Tuesday directly before the sale. We ask that you not leave donations outside for fear they may be damaged by wind or rain. Donations can be dropped off during our open hours.
Are there any book donations you won’t accept?
We do not accept textbooks, dictionaries, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, Music CDS, magazines, encyclopedias, or reader’s digest editions of books. We do not take in books with ripped pages, highlighted or written in. Please no moldy or damaged books.
