Trail of Dreams, into the Yukon Chasing the Ghosts of the Klondike Gold Rush

photo of man, probably a hiker, in front of Alaskan mountains

In 1897, the world went gold-mad. More than 100,000 dreamers, drifters, and fortune-seekers surged north toward the icy heart of the Yukon, chasing a glimmer of hope buried in frozen rivers. One of those was a young man from Bridport Vt. who joined the stampede to try his luck at prospecting for gold.  “I am  here to get all I can”.

Come listen to his story as over a century later, another Vermonter shouldered a backpack and followed their trail—through rain-soaked passes, silent forests, the snow covered Chilkoot Pass and the haunting remains of the greatest gold rush the world has ever known.

What was it like to hike the gold rush trail in the Yukon? come and listen to this fascinating presentation by Ivor Hughes On Sunday Dec 7 at 3.00 pm At The Community room Monkton Town Hall.
