About Us

Home of Russell Memorial Library from 1971-2022

We are the best (and only) public library in Monkton. Established in 1905 in the house of our founder, Albert P. Russell, who later operated the Monkton Free Library out of his son George Russell’s home. The library became the official municipal library of Monkton in 1913. Now housed in the lower level of Monkton’s new Town Hall, the library offers over 7,000 volumes of picture books, fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, and a sizeable Vermont collection. Newer additions to the library’s offerings include a really fun collection of games for all ages 0 and up, a small meeting room and monthly groups that gather to build community and have fun.
